Using Parental Controls on your Wii U
Setting up Parental Controls
To access the Parental Controls menu, go to the Wii U Menu then select Parental Controls. You’ll then need to read the instructions on the Wii U GamePad and confirm that you are over 18.
Next, you’ll need to create your 4-digit PIN number, which will allow you to access Parental Controls in the future. In case you forget your PIN, you’ll also be asked the answer to your secret question. Pick a question from the list, then enter your answer.
Once you’ve created a PIN, use the Wii U GamePad to adjust settings, referring to the information on the TV screen. You can scroll through the information on the TV screen by using the right control stick.
How to restrict features using Parental Controls
Please note that any Parental Controls settings will only be applied to the user account you are logged in to.
To restrict games over a particular PEGI rating, select Game Ratings from the Parental Controls menu. From there, you can use the slider to choose the appropriate game level for that user’s account.
To restrict players’ ability to post or view messages on Miiverse, select Miiverse from the Parental Controls menu. From there, you’ll be able to select whether to restrict users from posting, viewing or both.
You can lock or unlock all other features from the Parental Controls menu. If the feature displays a padlock next to it, that feature is locked. To unlock a feature, simply tap it and the padlock will disappear.
